After a lengthy season, due in part to a lengthy winter, we’re finally ready to start the playoffs. This is the latest we’ve ever finished the regular season. The main reason was cancellations. It seemed every time we got a storm throughout the season it was on a Sunday. We even lost a Sunday late in March. Like they say, “better late than never”, so here we go.
For starters, congrats to FUBAR for claiming the regular season championship. Finishing first, FUBAR and the 2nd place Blues will wait to see who wins the preliminary rounds during the first week. We’ll begin with the 7th place Smokin’ Aces playing against the 10th place Collective. The other preliminary series match-up will have the 8th place Unicorns taking on the 9th place Shooters. The quarter-finals series later in the day will feature the 3rd place Warriors playing against the 6th place Vipers and the 4th place Barrage taking on the 5th place Fog Devils. The following week FUBAR will play the lowest seeded preliminary round winner and the Blues will play the other qualifier to complete the quarter-finals. The semi-finals will be featured on May 18th. Then after a week off, we’ll return for the finals. Stay tuned as each week’s playoff schedule will be posted later that Sunday night.
Some important notes for the playoffs. The games will start at 12:30 each week instead of the usual 12 o’clock. All playoff series will be the best of 3 games. No spare players or goaltender can be borrowed during the playoffs. A team can only play with players belonging to that team. If a team’s goalie is unable to play, the team must either dress one of their other players or play with 5 runners without a goalie. The playoffs will be played each Sunday this month with the exception of May 25th.
