Playoffs Format

With only three weeks left to the regular season, the playoffs are near.  The following is how the playoffs will work.

They’ll start with a preliminary round between the bottom four teams to determine the final two quarter-finalists.  The team in 7th place at the end of the regular season will play against 10th place, while 8th will face off against 9th.  The two winning teams will move onto the quarter-finals to face the 1st and 2nd place teams.  There’s currently quite a race to determine 7th place as there are only four points separating 4th and 7th.  The Unicorns seem to be heading for an 8th place finish, while the Collective and Shooters will battle for 9th and 10th.

The match-ups for the quarter-finals will have the regular season champions taking on the lowest seeded team who won their preliminary round.  Second place will play against the highest seeded team who won their preliminary round.  Third place will face 6th, while 4th will play against 5th.  The top three teams seem set but 4th to 7th is close.  FUBAR will likely finish first and play the lowest seeded quarter-finalist, while the Blues will likely hold onto 2nd place and face the other preliminary round winner.  The Warriors look to have a handle on 3rd as we wait to see who emerges from 4th to 7th.  The Fog Devils, Barrage, Vipers, and Smokin’ Aces are within 4 points of each other.

The quarter-finals winners will move onto the semi-finals.  The top seeded semi-finalist will play against the lowest seeded team.  The 2nd and 3rd seeded semi-finalists will play in the other series.

The semi-finals winners will then move onto the finals to determine this season’s champions.
